[ARCHIVED] City of Petersburg Announces New City Engineer

Petersburg Director of Public Works and Utilities, Steven Hicks today announced the hiring of Daniel Harrison as the new City Engineer. Harrison will begin his new position on Monday, September 21.

“Mr. Harrison’s engineering experience in capital improvement projects, traffic engineering, land development and stormwater management will provide a great deal of benefit to the city,” said Hicks. “The City Engineer carries a lot of responsibility to ensure our projects and site plan development reviews proceed in a proper manner and in accordance with all applicable laws, standards and regulations. We believe that Mr. Harrison’s depth of experience will make him an important addition to our city.”

Harrison has most recently served as an engineer for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). During his 18 year tenure at VDOT, Harrison has also worked as an engineer manager and project manager in VDOT’s Central Office, Richmond and Fredricksburg Districts.

“We are excited to be welcoming Mr. Harrison to the City of Petersburg,” comments Hicks.

Harrison has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia State University. He currently lives in Chesterfield, Va. with his wife and two daughters.
