City of Petersburg Government Offices Closed for Independence Day
Petersburg City government offices will be closed on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. This includes Petersburg Area Transit and all bus service operations. All City offices will reopen on Wednesday, July 5 for normal hours of operation.
Petersburg Circuit Court and the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The Courts and Clerk’s Office will reopen on Wednesday, July 5 at normal hours.

Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) residential recycling and trash collections will be delayed one day for the week of July 4. There will be no collections on Tuesday, July 4. Trash pickup in Petersburg will slide to the following day. Blue Week recycling collections also will slide to the following day. Plan to enjoy the Fireworks at the Petersburg Harbor in Old Towne on Monday, July 3. Festivities begin at 6:00 pm. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:00 pm.
