Petersburg Community Corrections Renamed to Gateway Justice Services; New Magistrate Access Point Now Available for Petersburg Residents

The City of Petersburg announces that Petersburg Community Corrections has officially changed its name to Gateway Justice Services to better reflect its expanded mission within the justice system.

Under the new name, Gateway Justice Services will continue to provide:

  • Pretrial and Probation investigations and supervision for both Dinwiddie County and the City of Petersburg
  • Recovery/Mobile Unit assistance (City of Petersburg only)

In addition, Gateway Justice Services now offers in-person video access to citizens for magistrate hearings. Through this service, citizens may seek a petition for:

  • Mental health processes
  • Criminal processes

Walk-In Hours of Operation for Magistrate Access

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Gateway Justice Services is closed on weekends, holidays, and when the City of Petersburg is closed for inclement weather.

Magistrate/hearing room access must be conducted in person.  No appointment is necessary.

Guidance cannot be provided by Gateway Justice Services staff via phone.
