Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) offers paratransit service for Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (permanent or temporary) living within the city limits or � mile of the service area. The paratransit service operates wheelchair equipped vans providing door to door service for qualified senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Reservations for next day service may be arranged by calling the Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) administrative offices at 804.733.2413, 24 hours a day. Confirmation will be made the same day or the morning of the next day. The Para-transit service is available from 6:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., Monday thru Thursday, 6:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The holidays that paratransit services are not in service are - New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requires Petersburg Area Transit to limit the availability of paratransit service to persons whom have a permanent or temporary physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major activities. Photo identification cares are required for all pararansit patrons that are residents of the City of Petersburg. Photo identification cards are provided by Petersburg Area Transit. Please call 804.733.2413 for the available date and time to obtain your card.
The paratransit service is available for any trip purpose in the service area.
The scheduling of medical appointments or reservations may be made by calling 804.733.2413. Reservations will be accepted up to fourteen (14) days in advance of the trip date. Same day requests will be honored if scheduling permits.
Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) Para-transit service area is defined as the City of Petersburg and areas within � mile of the Ettrick bus route. In addition, trips to medical facilities located within the City of Colonial Heights, Dunlop Farms and the City of Hopewell along the Route 36 corridor in the area of the Crossings Shopping Center are honored. Shopping trips are permitted in Colonial Heights along Charles Dimmock Parkway and in Dinwiddie County along the Westgate Shopping Center areas.
No Show Policy
It is the goal of Petersburg Area Transit Para-transit service to provide on time, dependable service. Our expectation of our patrons is also to be dependable and on time for pick-up. Patrons failing to complete a requested trip on the paratransit service without notifying Petersburg Area Transit at least one hour prior to the scheduled pick-up will be recorded as a "No Show". Excessive "No Shows" within a specific time frame will result in suspended service.
It is Petersburg Area Transit pleasure to provide Para-transit service to any visitor presenting documentation of ADA eligibility from another public entity/public transportation provider or anyone who is visiting that is eligible for paratransit service.
Paratransit patrons are charged $1.00 for each one way trip. Certified Personal Care Attendants are limited to one per patron and not charged a fare.
