Voter Registrar

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The City of Petersburg will be being issued new Voter ID cards effective mid May 2012 because the entire City has been relocated due to redistricting into the 3rd Congressional District.

Local Redistricting changes were made in 2011 changing some polling locations, so please check your Voter ID card for those changes. Please be aware that thousands of Voter ID cards were returned Non Deliverable and all of those voters have been place on "Inactive" status - which requires paperwork prior to ever voting. If your Voter ID card was returned with a new Petersburg address, we have updated your address, which may also place you in a different ward since you last voted, so again please check your ID card.

Remember, it is your responsibility to keep your name and address current; do not expect DMV (certain paperwork and your approval is required for them to notify us - we even get the declinations from them, and have access to all records to support or offset any such claim made otherwise) or the Post Office as it is not their responsibility to inform us. Failure to keep your address current will affect your voting day experience with a delay in processing as paperwork will be required, so please attend to this matter immediately to eliminate such. If by June 1st you do not have your Voter ID card with issue date of 3-30 2012 or later, please contact our Office at 733-8071. You may also check your voting status at www.sbe.virginia.gov for accuracy.

2012 Elections: Voter ID is required, so please come prepared: your Voter ID card fulfills this obligation, so put it in a safe place and bring with you on Election Day, will greatly enhance your Voting experience, with speed and efficiency of bar code scanner on the card for check-in purposes.

June 12th is a Republican Primary Election only, see sample ballot on website.

November 6th is the Presidential Election, with Federal, State and Local even wards: 2, 4, and 6 for City Council and School Board on the ballot, along with Referendums. That sample ballot will be placed on the website in September.
