TThe Field Operations Division is comprised of the Uniform Patrol component of the agency. It supplies the officers who are on the streets twenty-four hours each day, seven days per week. These officers are the first responders to citizens' requests for assistance, reports of crimes, and the initial police representation at any significant incident which occurs. When not responding to assigned calls, the officers of the Operations Division are enforcing traffic codes, establishing relationships with businesses and citizens, and watching for individuals and for circumstances which have the potential to become problems for the City.
The Operations Division Deputy Chief is Major William Rohde. The Division divides the City into the Southeast Precinct, commanded by Lieutenant Brian Braswell, and the Northwest Precinct, commanded by Acting Lieutenant Chris Walker. Each Precinct is divided into four Beats for a total of eight. The officers work twelve-hour shifts and are "permanently" assigned to specific beats enabling them to better know the citizens of their assigned neighborhoods.
