Administrative Services Division
Support Services consists of specialized teams that address a wide spectrum of police services. The functions of these officers range from basic public services, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, to the more police-oriented operations in support of the Patrol and Investigative Divisions. Diversity and flexibility are primary requirements of the personnel assigned to the Support Services Unit.
The Communications Center is responsible for police, fire and EMS radio communications for the City of Petersburg and serves as the City's E-911 Call Center. The division is a 24-hour-a-day operation staffed by 25 communications officers and supervisors.
Financial operations include budget development, grants management, extradition, asset forfeiture, payroll and accounting.
Training is responsible for the recruitment and administrative management of all department employees.
Policy and Planning
Policy and planning is a necessary resource for the Chief's Office and is responsible policy development and updates, facilitating accreditation compliance, managing the Department strategic planning efforts including performance measurement, preparing the Department's annual report, monitoring trends and issues related to policing and completing special projects.
Records and Technology
The Records and Technology Division manages all of the major technical hardware and software services and systems of the department.
Petersburg Animal Care and Control provides humane care for stray, abused, and lost animals.
The Special Projects Coordinator is responsible for community based programs and activities. The Petersburg Police Summer Youth Enrichment Program, Volunteers in Policing Program, United Way and Holiday Giving are just a few of the events managed by this office.
