The City of Petersburg, Public Works Department, Operations Division operates a landfill at 390 Factory Lane, off Puddledock Road, in the eastern part of the City. It is a state of the art facility that meets or exceeds all State of Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regulations and standards.

The landfill is for waste generated within the corporate limits of the City of Petersburg only. Residents may use the landfill for the disposal of non-commercial waste at no charge. Commercial waste, generated in Petersburg, may be disposed in the landfill for a fee as long as it is waste that can be accepted within our permit limitations. Our landfill is not properly licensed for hazardous waste disposal, only regular non-hazardous household and commercial waste may be accepted.
