RE-ENTRY CASE MANAGER
SALARY RANGE: To be negotiated (Grant funded)
LOCATION: SHERIFF
STATUS: Classified/Full-Time

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs responsible, professional, administrative work in implementing and evaluating comprehensive care and program services to offenders in the Re-entry program. Demonstrate ability to assess needs, provide case management and counseling service to offenders. Demonstrate ability to develop, coordinate and lead treatment programs and provide substance abuse education. Demonstrate ability to interpret and follow oral and written rules and regulations; learn new practices, procedures and equipment operations. Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with community resources and individuals from diverse environments. Maintains individual client records, Prepares weekly and monthly reports as requested by Sheriff. Ensures each re-entry participant completes each phase of program and determine appropriate aftercare services. Considerable knowledge of windows based software. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of the judicial system as it relates to corrections and/or criminology; ability to perform caseload management; ability to develop and implement alternative treatment methods and substance abuse education; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with judicial personnel and clients; ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in the major work in criminal justice and behavior science or a related field with practical experience in the corrections or criminology field.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
Computer/printer, facsimile machine, photocopier, calculator, security equipment, fire equipment, and vehicles.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid VA Driver's License. Must maintain a telephone in residence for emergency contact. May require working irregular hours and holidays. Incumbent must not have been convicted of, or pleaded guilty or no contest to, a felony or any offense that would be a felony if committed in Virginia.

MANAGEMENT:
All employees of the Petersburg Sheriff's Office are responsible for following direction provided by or instructions given by the Sheriff. Direction may be provided directly or indirectly passed through the Chain of Command.

All applicants will undergo a criminal background check and a driving record inquiry. Selected applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening test, a written test, as well as, a medical examination.
