The Petersburg Public Library System seeks a customer service oriented person to be the Head of Adult Services at the Central Library. This position oversees the day-to-day operation of circulation and reference activities and is responsible for collection development, answering reference questions, providing genealogical and research assistance, and implementing programs. This position supervises 5 employees, which involves staff development, training, scheduling, and performance appraisal. As a member of the Library's leadership team, this person will assist in developing policies, procedures and the strategic plan. QUALIFICATIONS: Requires an MLS from an ALA accredited program and 3-5 years of library experience preferably with some supervisory experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Eligibility for certification as a professional librarian by the Commonwealth of Virginia and possession of a valid appropriate driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
