SUMMER PROGRAM
2018 Let's Move Summer Program 
Petersburg Recreation Let's Move Summer Program will operate July 2 - August 16, 2018, Monday thru Thursday, 9:00-4:00PM. The program will engage city youth between the ages of 6 to 12 in interactive activities that will focus on fitness, health, reading, gardening, golf, fishing, etiquette & chivalry sessions and so much more. You can register your child now until June 15, 2018. The program is for Petersburg Residents only and it is a free program. Breakfast/Lunch will be served daily and transportation provided (based on bus schedule). For additional information please call 804-324.4014 or 4015.
Summer Fun = Swimming at the Farmer Street City PooL
The Farmer Street Pool will open Saturday, June 16, 2018, (weekends only until June 30, 2018) - we are in need of Head Lifeguard and Lifeguards. Please refer potential applicants to our online application process www.petersburg-va.gov
Hours of Operation - Monday thru Saturday, 1:00-5:00PM
Holiday Hours -
Independence Day, July 4, 2018, 1:00-6:00PM
Labor Day, September 3, 201, 1:00-6:00PM
All pool participants must complete a registration form. Ages 18 & over will present Identification upon entering the pool site.
All children Ages 10 & under must have a parent or guardian 18 years or older accompany him or her the duration of time at the pool site.
All users must wear swim wear (swim shorts with string, bathing suit). Please read all posted materials at the pool concerning safety, rules and pool etiquette. The ratio of Lifeguard to pool users: 1:25. Food and beverages are not allowed (exception) plastic water bottles and sports drinks are allowed.

Johnny E. Rowe, Sr. Youth Baseball Program
The Johnny E. Rowe, Sr. Little League Baseball Program serves as a foundation for Skill Development, Character Development and Life Skills for the youth in Petersburg. Johnny E. Rowe, Sr coached many of our city youth and served as Father to many of young males in the City of Petersburg. His legacy of dedication, caring, and love of baseball will forever be etched in the minds of so many Petersburg residents both old and youth.
SUMMER Sci-tastic Camp
Virginia State University in partnership with, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, and Petersburg Parks and Leisure Services is sponsoring a free three-week science camp for rising 4th and 5th graders. The 2018 Sci-Tastic (Science is Fantastic) camp will be held July 2 through 17, Mondays through Thursdays in the parish hall of St. Stephen's Church. The camp hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Each week, campers will witness science come alive through exciting hands-on investigations in physics, engineering, and biology, and fun, educational field trips. Registration, which closes June 12th, is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Feel free this information to others.

Let's Move After School Program
Parks & Leisure Services offers a dynamic and enriching "Let's Move - After School Program" for Petersburg residents grades (3rd) third thru (7th) seventh . The program areas focus on academic support, youth develop, physical fitness, health/nutrition, mentoring and recreation.
Effective after school programs produce positive outcomes, improves academic performance, improves attendance at school, provides a safe haven, improves healthy food intake and increases the amount of time a child engages in positive relationships.
The program begins September 18, 2017 and will end June 1, 2018. The following partners will offer programs during the Let's Move After School Program.
Petersburg (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated - Linking our Youth to the STEAM Effect Program will be held on Wednesdays. The goal is to engage at risk youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math in an effort to increase the number of minority students entering the field of Science, Technology and Engineering. Most recently in partnership with the Petersburg (VA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated announced the newly established NSBE, JR (National Society of Black Engineers). The Pre-College Initiative (PCI) program is designed to stimulate the interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, or STEM. The goal is to encourage students in grades K–12 to attend college and pursue technical degrees.
Virginia FeedMore Program (Virginia Food Bank) - provides HOT nutritional meals daily to increase the intake of healthy meals received during the "Out of School Time".
Golden Girls Gardening Program - provides gardening classes for the After School Students both hands on instruction as well as classroom instruction. In addition the Golden Girls offer an Etiquette and Chivalry Class for the students.
Optima Health (Health Education Awareness Program) W.H.A.T. Matters (W-Well Being, H-Health, A-Attitude, T-Thoughts) - students will engage in physical fitness competitions, Art Expression, and Open Mic Discussion concerning WHAT Matters.
Virginia State University - provide college students to assist with the program and serve as mentors.
Virginia State University Harding Street Urban Agriculture Center - provides opportunities for youth to engage in environmental and educational programs.
- Transportation will be provided from the school to the After School Site.
